Dog Chase In A Maze

This is a more or less true story with a little bit of exaggeration.

My house was in a compound connected to the factory and just next to the factory was a field( and that was one hell of a LARGE field - i got lost in it quite a few- like this is one time too ).

My friend and me (getting monotonous ain't it - so I'll call him Abbas). So Abbas and me decided to explore the field and this was the season where the people of Kenya grew maize and so we were going into a maize field when the plants were extremely tall(compared to us that is- it was like a maze than maize). I had a pair of radio with a great range and so we split up decided to see who could reach the end of the field first. Surprisingly enough we reached at the same time( Surprising because i was slow at running) and both of us had a couple of mild bruises as expected.

We looked at the tall imposing wall and started to challenge each other to see who could get back to the other end of the field first when we heard something that sound like the great rumbling of an earthquake or wave hitting something very hard( though we were nowhere near a beach or any water body )
. We turned around almost as one, and I saw my friend's pupils expand in fear( he looked something like O.O) and in a heartbeat we watched in fear as the wall just a few metres away crumble to pieces ( okay it just fell but it was still scary being only 2-3 m away from it). Almost immediately after it crashed down we heard barking and it seemed to be coming from a hundred dogs (It turned out to be 3 dogs only). We turned and started what appeared to be a slow-mo movie run and the dogs that leaped over the fence seemed super fast. As we reached the beginning of the plants we split up into two different routes and only caught glimpses of each other as we ran. I saw another branche coming up and thought of taking the left turn when i heard the dogs' clattering paws. i glanced a fearful look behind and saw that 2 dogs were after me! As the branch came up ahead i got ready to turn without stopping but when i did i had a nicely maize decorated crash-bang into the plants. It was a dead-end (WHO THE HELL HAS DEAD ENDS IN A MAIZE PLANTATION?!!! i mean usually they are in straight rows and columns , aren't they?). A heard the low rumble of the dogs' growl and looked fearfully at them. I noticed a stick (a maize stem actually) near my leg and picked it up for self deffense. The dogs split and moved in opposite direction (almost too movie-ish style) , i swung the stick to and fro trying to discourage them and suddenly one just turned and ran. The other one on the other hand growled nicely and made me feel rather uncomfortable. Instead of waiting for the dog to attack i moved first and caught it squarely in the mid-rib (all animal activist and lovers i'm sorry if you are upset but it was a matter of life - Okay maybe bad wounds but still....). It growled on more time before it slunk away towards the wall.

I heard my friend scream and i ran to his aid. Sadly, I was too late and I reached just in time to see him swinging a similar looking stick at a dog as the second dog (i beliave was the one that ran away from me - damnit I make look too smart here - sadly these doggy-bits are true) Bit his leg from behind and TORE a chunk of FLESH from his leg. The air was filled with a ear splitting scream.

Later at the hospital i helped my friend down the stairs with his cruches. He had recovered to a great extent (with alot and i mean ALOT of needles poked into him ).

I had managed to scare off one dog but the other was trouble and simply wouldn't get scared, luckily, a person ,hearing the scream , made his way through the maize field and reached us (i really wonder how exactly did he find us). The dog clearly out numbered finally left. The was built again and everything went fine after that.

Incase you are wondering as to how the wall fell - it simply fell because it had weakened and was old (must have been OLD to fall completely like that).
