Dog Chase In A Maze

This is a more or less true story with a little bit of exaggeration.

My house was in a compound connected to the factory and just next to the factory was a field( and that was one hell of a LARGE field - i got lost in it quite a few- like this is one time too ).

My friend and me (getting monotonous ain't it - so I'll call him Abbas). So Abbas and me decided to explore the field and this was the season where the people of Kenya grew maize and so we were going into a maize field when the plants were extremely tall(compared to us that is- it was like a maze than maize). I had a pair of radio with a great range and so we split up decided to see who could reach the end of the field first. Surprisingly enough we reached at the same time( Surprising because i was slow at running) and both of us had a couple of mild bruises as expected.

We looked at the tall imposing wall and started to challenge each other to see who could get back to the other end of the field first when we heard something that sound like the great rumbling of an earthquake or wave hitting something very hard( though we were nowhere near a beach or any water body )
. We turned around almost as one, and I saw my friend's pupils expand in fear( he looked something like O.O) and in a heartbeat we watched in fear as the wall just a few metres away crumble to pieces ( okay it just fell but it was still scary being only 2-3 m away from it). Almost immediately after it crashed down we heard barking and it seemed to be coming from a hundred dogs (It turned out to be 3 dogs only). We turned and started what appeared to be a slow-mo movie run and the dogs that leaped over the fence seemed super fast. As we reached the beginning of the plants we split up into two different routes and only caught glimpses of each other as we ran. I saw another branche coming up and thought of taking the left turn when i heard the dogs' clattering paws. i glanced a fearful look behind and saw that 2 dogs were after me! As the branch came up ahead i got ready to turn without stopping but when i did i had a nicely maize decorated crash-bang into the plants. It was a dead-end (WHO THE HELL HAS DEAD ENDS IN A MAIZE PLANTATION?!!! i mean usually they are in straight rows and columns , aren't they?). A heard the low rumble of the dogs' growl and looked fearfully at them. I noticed a stick (a maize stem actually) near my leg and picked it up for self deffense. The dogs split and moved in opposite direction (almost too movie-ish style) , i swung the stick to and fro trying to discourage them and suddenly one just turned and ran. The other one on the other hand growled nicely and made me feel rather uncomfortable. Instead of waiting for the dog to attack i moved first and caught it squarely in the mid-rib (all animal activist and lovers i'm sorry if you are upset but it was a matter of life - Okay maybe bad wounds but still....). It growled on more time before it slunk away towards the wall.

I heard my friend scream and i ran to his aid. Sadly, I was too late and I reached just in time to see him swinging a similar looking stick at a dog as the second dog (i beliave was the one that ran away from me - damnit I make look too smart here - sadly these doggy-bits are true) Bit his leg from behind and TORE a chunk of FLESH from his leg. The air was filled with a ear splitting scream.

Later at the hospital i helped my friend down the stairs with his cruches. He had recovered to a great extent (with alot and i mean ALOT of needles poked into him ).

I had managed to scare off one dog but the other was trouble and simply wouldn't get scared, luckily, a person ,hearing the scream , made his way through the maize field and reached us (i really wonder how exactly did he find us). The dog clearly out numbered finally left. The was built again and everything went fine after that.

Incase you are wondering as to how the wall fell - it simply fell because it had weakened and was old (must have been OLD to fall completely like that).

The most Chaotic day of The year 2002 (i was 7 yrs old)

Sry for d bad spellings and all. In a rush so cant reread.

Well this one starts with my friend's b'day. We were heading for a place called Naiberi which was a kinda holiday resort cum camping site. So, we started by playing with the dogs that were there (14 as a fact) and once we were tired, covered in mud or sumtin like dat we walked off to take a shower and den a swim. Now this pool was no ordinary one it was actually connected to the river flowing through the estate, so, one could just swim right on into the river and u wouldnt notice until u were pushed off my the current. We decided to have a race and so as we were swimming a friend of mine and me sumhow managed to find ourselves in the fastest and most dangerous current(most dangerous coz der wer alot of sharp rocks in the path and also it was d only current dat would not go close to shore, the others did and dats y dey wer safer.). Dis river happened to be surprisingly clean( i later learnt dat dey filtered it and so on. i must say dey had a lot of money). We tried to swim out of this current to a rather slow moving one(can u believe a river having more dan 1 current. dis was 1 of d first ones i had seen) but to no avail. Soon we saw what we feared d most (and also wat came to be our saviour), a BIG , SHARP! rock. As it came closer we both tried swimming against the current but it was too strong.

Later as we sat shivering with a glass of hot chocolate(isnt dat quite common in movies and cartoons?) in our hands, i thot of that second wen i thot "we're doomed". Thinking quickly my friend suggested dat we grab the rock even though we may get cut we might just save ourselves and so dats exactly wat we did. we did get cut but only on our knees and thankfully our hands were OK.

After drying up we joine our friends in playing a game of hide and seek and that wen another calamity occured(im quite used to dat by now u know coz alot have happened to me). I was hiding behind wat i thot was a tower of dried mud was actually an ant hill! and that too a niberi ant hill (They are quite similar to fire ants and sting the same way wen they bite). Soon i was crawling with ants on my lgs and i must say dey are fast. I ran all over the place screaming at the top of my lungs "Ouch!Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" before i had the mind to simply jump back into the pool. That removed sum of the ants but the rest had to be almost literally "plucked" off me. I was carefull after that and have never liked ants that much ever since that incident.

The day seemed to be one of chaos as later we got a chance to milk a cow, when a friend( there were more than 16 friends there) got a chance to look at a very fast moving cow leg( It sadly, just missed his head *grins*). The day continued with more and more minor things untill we were reduced to be able to do nothing but play monopoly(which too was ruined by the dogs who trampled all over the board, on the table!!).

We went back home slightly downhearted but later realised how much we enjoyed the day. Come to think of it its a once in a life time experience.

Note: This incident is completely true and i have exaggerated nothing here.

Haycorn(Haycorn-acorn hehehhe) - jump

Note: The following is all true, so do NOT question any of the events that occur in this scene( Just kidding questions are welcome and these events are really true.)

When I used to stay in Kenya my house used to be connected to factory area and thus I had a large area to play(When i mean large, I mean LARGE probably more than 7 acres- excluding the farm). There used to be a warehouse nearby. Now it just happened to be that that month there was hay being stored in the warehouse and stacks of maize(corn) sacks stacked neatly like stairs outside it (They play a very important role as lifesavers and unnecessary risks.). A friend of mine had come over to play and as usual we set out to explore more of the area(though I already knew most of it, it was still interesting) and reached the maize stacks. There was a guard tower standing tall and scarily(i just happened to be 8 years old so i was pretty short and saw everything as extra large)right in front of the stacks(with a gaurd inside) and as I remember he didnt like me playing around there. Since, as i said ,i was short and my friend though definately bigger( not just in height but around the midriff too) snooped past him wiothout him noticing (he was tuning in to a radio station so it wasn't so hard). We then entered the ware house and played around in the hay and found so many useful things( like fine copper wire and shiny paper that reflected very well).

After some time the gaurd unfortunately(for us) heard our frolic and came to inspect. We quickly hid behind one of the bales we had displaced(with alot of effort too). The gaurd who we thought was looking for the source of the noise turned out to be guiding a truck in to collect some hay. We were quite high up so my first thought was "UHOH!!" they would come to the top to collect the bundle so that they could maintain a step like formation. But, to my surprise they started taking the bundles at the bottom! Amd they seemed to be in a hurry too. After they had made off with the hay(In 5 min too! Though that was like an eternity) the hay was no longer a staircase but half a staircase( that truck was either very big or very long) and was too high for me and my friend to jump( about a standard 2 storey height). We were stuck!!!!!! We were looking for every other possible way down(apart from jumping directly on a very stony area, with sharp stones too), when we heard the gate bein locked! So we just stopped trying to get down and started screaming, but to no aviail as noone could hear us. I then got the idea to go the top of the stack and see if we could somehow get help (or get out). When my friend and me reached the top we found (to our surprise) that the maize stacks reached exactly 3 ft. below us. I asked my friend if he was up to a dangerous jump (If we jumped and slipped the wrong way we would have had a fall pretty at 90 degrees to the ground.). He said he would try but i could almost feel his fear.

I held my breath gripped the edge and just pushed into the oblivion to feel like i was flying( though that ended pretty quickly) and then banged down comfortably on to the stack with (luckily) only a sore behind( My friend wasn't so lucky and landed head on!). We both made our way down to find the gaurd sleeping on the stacks themselves a few levels down. Now we were in trouble as should we wake him we would have been chased off the area or kicked (literally) off.
The sound of the grain crunching slightly as we passed seem to be competing with my heart's loud thumping and my friend too seemed to be facing a similar situation.

Later when we reached home we were greeted by a happy motner who said that she had got some icecream and cake for tea and that she was hoping we were hungry. We looked at each other and rushed inside to see who could reach the table first. We enjoyed our tea and my friend left later when his parents came to pick him up.

For the record we managed to get past the sleeping gaurd onto so;id ground befor e he got up so he just yelled at us and shooed us away, sat down again on the maize, pulled his cap low over his face and fell back into his peaceful sleep we had disturbed. My parents didn't find till a week later, but just laughed at the incident( I joined in too) and told me that I should never try it again.

Once in a red and blue moon.

I used to go in a bus at 6:45 in the morning to go to school and since my house was a bit of a distance away from the nerest stop my uncle had to drop me to it. I had a class mate at this stop and wen we used to get on the bus we used to bet(nuttin real just dat d person hu lost wud get a punch or pinch) dat the 3 uder students at 1 of dd next stops wud cum. usually 1 of dem wud miss it. wen it happened dat 2 wud cum we wud call it a blue moon (once in a blue moon, get it?) and if all 3 came we wud call it a red moon (NOW dat is rare like my previous post mentioned, tho it din happen on dat scale of so many years. but it still was at least a month before it happend again. Dis went on for quite sumtime but d ppl involved stopped cumin in d bus (i think). I have no idea wether it still continues, but may god help them( heheheh).

Note: D followin is not meant to offend any teachers as i still respect them and i guess dey do it for our onw gud

Urgh!!!! My physics teacher just happens to be a big annoying ball that wants everything perfect :<
. I had to leave my physics practicals for an interschool competition that day and so I couldnt complete d practical. Since i had dun half of it, i simply copied the rest of d readings down from my lab partner. Today i got called to her office and yelled at in front of 7 other teachers because i actually wrote down the practical in my record. CAN U BELIEVE DAT I GOT YELLED AT BECAUSE I DID D PRACTICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( she usually yells at evry1 for not doin it or makin a mistake!!!!). But still atleast she teaches well and i supposes dis is for our own gud(Ya just like i mentioned in d "note" -_-). she mustnt be wantin us to make dese mistakes in d exam, so i dont exactly hate her. BUT it was still irritatin...
